Helpful Hints

  • You are solely responsible for acquiring and maintaining insurance on your stored property. Check with your homeowners or renters insurance provider to see if they will add your stored items to your policy.
  • Plan your storage space. Items needed often or first should be stored in front or last. Allow enough room for walkways.
  • Make up a list of your items and keep them in a safe place like a home or in a safe deposit box.
  • Clearly label each box so you can find items quickly and with ease.
  • Place your storage items on boards or pallets to guard against moisture. Any concrete floor may become cold & damp.
  • CAUTION: Do Not store COMBUSTIBLE items like paint, paint thinner, gasoline, aerosol spray cans, or any solvents. It could cause a hazardous situation.
  • Use uniform box sizes. List contents on all sides: number, seal them with tape, and stack lighter objects or boxes on top of heavier ones.
  • Pictures and mirrors should be wrapped in cardboard, marked "FRAGILE," and stacked on end.
  • Furniture with drawers makes good storage places for pictures, china, silverware, small items, etc. Wrap them in tablecloths, towels, or blankets to prevent breakage.
  • Larger appliances make excellent "packing cases" for blankets, towels,
  • tablecloths and clothing. Boxes can be stacked on top of refrigerators, stoves, and freezers.
  • When storing a Refrigerator/Freezer, it is important to leave the door ajar to prevent mold, and it is advisable to drain lines. The appliance should be thoroughly dry before storing.
  • Shovels, hoes, rakes, and hoses can be stored together in empty trash cans. Stack extra cans inside of one another.
  • Tables having removable legs should be broken down to save space. Protect table finishes by placing blankets between surfaces. For tables that will not disassemble, place padding on the concrete and place the table on its top with legs pointing upward.
  • Sofas and love seats can be stored on end to save floor space. Always place a protective cover under the item on the concrete. Cushions should be wrapped in plastic and placed on top.
  • Cover stuffed furniture with cardboard or blankets to protect against dust.
  • If you stand mattresses on their side, "prop" them up so they stand straight. They may tend to bend out of shape and become lumpy.
  • Freestanding shelving can save space in your unit and maximize your unit space.
  • Do not place heavy or sharp objects on top of upholstered furniture.
  • Please use the lock provided by Best Storage when you rent the unit.
  • Visit BEST STORAGE in person to understand your storage needs better.

Storage Unit Etiquette

  • Follow all rules and guidelines set by the storage facility management.
  • Keep noise levels to a minimum, especially during early morning or late evening hours.
  • Dispose of trash and unwanted items responsibly and according to facility rules.
  • Don't leave garbage in common areas or near your storage unit.
  • Ensure that gates and security doors are closed and locked after you access your unit.
  • Don't prop doors open, as this compromises the security of the entire facility.
  • Be mindful of the space outside your unit. Avoid blocking aisles or access paths.
